Meet Your Central New York Doula
Lacey Ortiz
Hey! I’m Lacey and if I’m not gardening, crafting, or homeschooling my children, I’m obsessing with all things birth and postpartum. It all started when I was pregnant with my first, but I quickly became overwhelmed and scared with all the thoughts of how I was handling pregnancy, constantly hearing daunting labor stories, and also being baffled with the notion of breastfeeding and caring for my new yet changing body. I graciously had my family and friends for an amazing support system (which included some mouth watering meals by the way!), but if I had an expert in the field I know I would have experienced less pain and anxiety. By the time I was pregnant with my second, I had a few goals in mind. They were to have a natural unmediated birth, not to give up on breastfeeding, give myself grace, and become a doula to help YOU, but only IF I could successfully complete the prior three goals. Well, they all happened! And shortly after my second child had his first birthday, I became a certified birth doula and a couple years later I completed my postpartum training to become what we call a full spectrum doula. I’v attended countless births in all places and have supported women through natural, medicated, and cesarean births. So if your a super crunchy granola type of girl or a silky satin lady there’s no judgment and I support it all. Now, sit back and rest assured that I am here for you 24/7. For the 2am questions through the 5am water breaking. For all the breastfeeding troubles and to reassure you that YES all the hair you are loosing during postpartum will grow back! I would be honored to be a part of this incredible time in your life.
Why I love being a doula in Central New York
I was born and raised in Syracuse and have never lived anywhere else! Despite the harsh winters we get I’v realized that CNY has so many warm people! It’s humbling to go to game at the dome or baseball stadium and realize that many of the families I have helped with birth and postpartum are likely there too! It’s the community aspect that makes the hard work so worth it all!
